Your bedroom is more than just a place to sleep…
Your room is your sanctuary so it’s important to fill it with the things you adore. They have to be one of the most important spaces in our home! We start each day there and end our nights there as well. I don’t know about you but waking up in a lovely space, for me, is bound to get my day off to a wonderful start. From textured pillows to comfortable bedding, Lionsgate Design shares with you the five-bedroom must-haves.
1. Quality linens
You spend about one-third of your life in bed, so there is no excuse for having sub-par linens. Spend money on quality sheets and linens that are durable yet soft to the skin. Good linens are one of those things, like nice towels and a pair of really classy black pumps, that are worth splurging on.
2. A comfy rug
There’s nothing like stepping out of bed in the morning and feeling your feet sink into a soft and plush rug. Besides saving you from the chill of the hardwood, rugs also frame your bed and ground the space.
3. A place to sit
The space in a one-bedroom apartment can get away with just being a space for a bed, but the master bedroom in a multi-bedroom home also needs to function as something of a retreat. Although this may seem obvious, many people forget to include a place to sit (that’s not the bed). Adding a loveseat at the foot of the bed, or a comfy chair or even a workspace for creative pursuits will help your bedroom to feel like an escape.
4. A few little luxuries
Whether it’s a candle, or a thick, warm throw blanket, or maybe just flowers every now and then, a little bit of luxury will go a long way in your bedroom. So treat yourself.
5. The right amount of pillows
One of the biggest design mistakes we see in the space is too few or too many pillows (normally the latter). You want your bed to look sumptuous, but you don’t want your bed-making to be a twenty-minute endeavour. Four to six pillows tend to work best with an additional accent pillow thrown in to vary the texture or add in some colour.
