Time to decorate for Canada Day…
Canada Day is around the corner and if you’re preparing to celebrate our fine country’s birthday with a bash of your own, we’ve got you covered. Our beautiful country is home to many different cultures, and there’s so much to celebrate. If you’re planning on hosting a gathering, sometimes the pressure can be on. We have gathered some quick hosting ideas that will make your guests feel at home and proud to be Canadian!
1. Prepare delicious snacks
This is the perfect time for a barbecue so it’s appropriate to serve your favourite burgers, ribs and pasta salad! To keep things with the Canada theme, look to serve extras that are naturally red and white. Strawberries with whipped cream make a great topping for a vanilla sponge cake. Consider serving some Canadian flag cupcakes too. You could even make fruit kebabs using watermelon and bananas.
2. Serve a refreshing drink
There is nothing better than enjoying a refreshing beverage during a summer afternoon. To keep things festive, serve a pitcher of sangria for the adults and punch for the kids.
3. Table decor
Red and white placemats, tablecloths, Canada-day themed napkins, DIY mason jar centrepieces, the list goes on! It’s the simple touches that make your table stunning.
Deck out your space with Canadian flags of all sizes. If you’re hosting in the backyard, place them in flower pots or throughout the garden. Mylar balloons add a fun and festive feel so buy letters to spell out “Oh Canada” or “Happy Canada Day”. A maple leaf garland is a perfect addition to your Canada Day décor. Hang it along a wall, across a door frame or use it to accent your tabletop.
